Day after quitting LS, Akhilesh says will take people’s struggle from sadan to sadak

After commemorating the birth anniversary of party ideologue Ram Manohar Lohia, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav affirmed that the people of Uttar Pradesh have entrusted the party with a mandate to persist in their struggle. He declared that the party would carry out this endeavor “from sadan to sadak” (from the assembly to the streets).

Addressing reporters in Lucknow regarding his decision to retain the Karhal Assembly seat after resigning from his Lok Sabha membership in Azamgarh, Akhilesh stated, “The SP has been given a mandate for struggle. We have been given a chance to stay in the state Assembly. From the sadan (Assembly) to sadak (roads), we will continue our struggle.” Akhilesh secured a seat in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly from Karhal in the recently concluded elections, having previously represented Azamgarh as an MP in the Lok Sabha.

On Tuesday, Akhilesh opted to retain the Assembly seat while relinquishing his Lok Sabha membership from the Azamgarh constituency. In a tweet on Wednesday, he expressed gratitude for the moral victory bestowed by millions of people in the Assembly polls and pledged to represent Karhal while remaining committed to the progress of Azamgarh.

Regarding the vacant Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat, Akhilesh mentioned that the party workers and leaders in Azamgarh would decide the candidate for the bypoll when it takes place.

Responding to questions about Chief Minister-designate Yogi Adityanath’s oath-taking ceremony, Akhilesh emphasized that the SP has been given a mandate to struggle for the people. He acknowledged the need for celebration but pointed out that the government’s continuity is essential. He expressed hope that the Samajwadi works over the next five years would inspire the people.

Discussing inflation, the SP chief criticized the government’s flawed policies, stating that the continuous increase in fuel prices is a result of these policies. He questioned why fuel companies are making profits while prices soar and highlighted the need for an assessment of the situation.
